Radiculopathy, also known as a pinched nerve in the spine, can lead to symptoms like pain, weakness, and numbness. The spine consists of 33 stacked bones or vertebrae supported by muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Nerves extend from the spine to areas such as the arms and legs.
Besides conducting a physical examination and reviewing symptoms, doctors may diagnose radiculopathy using imaging tests such as X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans, along with nerve function tests like EMG (electromyography).
